J.P. Nadda Introduces 'AIIMS Disha' App for Seamless Hospital Navigation
AIIMS launches app for real-time hospital navigation using AI and BLE tech.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda launched AIIMS Disha, an innovative mobile application designed to streamline navigation for patients, visitors, and staff within the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi, on September 13, 2025. Leveraging Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons and advanced AI routing algorithms, the app provides real-time, turn-by-turn navigation, ensuring users can effortlessly locate OPD rooms, diagnostic centers, pharmacies, and billing counters without confusion or delay.
AIIMS Disha utilizes a BLE Beacon Network, with strategically placed beacons transmitting precise location signals for room-level accuracy, even without an internet connection. The app features detailed 2D maps of the hospital, intelligent path recommendations tailored to mobility needs, and accessibility options such as customized routes for wheelchair users.
Multilingual voice and visual navigation, along with multi-floor and multi-building routing, enhance user experience, while live heat maps enable crowd flow management. Android- and iOS-operated kiosks within the premises further support navigation.
Dr. M Srinivas, Director of AIIMS Delhi, emphasized the app’s significance, stating, “AIIMS Disha represents our vision of integrating next-generation AI and IoT technologies to deliver patient-centric services, positioning AIIMS as a pioneer in digital healthcare infrastructure.” By reducing wait times, improving operational efficiency, and offering a stress-free experience, AIIMS Disha sets a new standard for hospital navigation, ensuring accessibility and convenience for all users.
