Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has categorically dismissed any terrorist involvement in the Nowgam Police Station explosion, asserting that initial assessments reveal it was an accident during routine sample-collection procedures. He announced the initiation of a detailed inquiry to establish the precise chain of events leading to the tragedy.
Addressing media personnel, Sinha emphasized the absence of malicious intent, stating that the incident occurred while samples were being handled. The directive for a comprehensive probe aims to uncover operational lapses and prevent future occurrences in sensitive forensic activities.
The vicinity of Nowgam Police Station in Srinagar remains cordoned off, with Forensic Science Laboratory teams and security forces meticulously examining the site following the blast that claimed nine lives and injured 32 others. Forensic experts are gathering critical evidence to support the ongoing investigation into the catastrophic event.

The explosion transpired late Friday night within the police station premises, resulting in immediate fatalities among personnel and significant structural damage to adjacent buildings. The wounded were promptly transported to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital for advanced medical care, while Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat cautioned against unfounded speculation, reinforcing that preliminary evidence indicates an unintentional detonation during standard forensic protocols.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah pledged full governmental assistance to the bereaved families, instructing relevant ministers to oversee optimal treatment for the injured and compensation for damaged properties. National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah advocated for an impartial investigation, suggesting potential errors in explosive management may have exacerbated the incident's severity.
