Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Announces Vision 2050 Roadmap For Economic Growth
Hemant Soren outlines Jharkhand’s Vision 2050 knowledge economy roadmap.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday called for transforming the state into a knowledge-driven economy, moving beyond its traditional identity as a mineral-rich region. Addressing a national stakeholders’ consultation for the state’s Vision 2050 roadmap, Soren said Jharkhand’s future growth would depend on combining its traditional knowledge systems with modern technology, research and innovation. Soren inaugurated a two-day National Stakeholders Consultation organised jointly by the state’s Information Technology, Industries and Tourism Departments in Ranchi.
The event brought together industry leaders, technology companies, policymakers, academicians and experts to discuss strategies for accelerating economic growth and building a roadmap for the state’s long-term development. “Jharkhand should be known not only for its mines but also for its minds. Our identity must extend beyond resources to research, beyond extraction to innovation and beyond growth to broad-based, inclusive and sustainable development,” Soren said. He stressed that while the state’s natural resources remain important, equal focus must be placed on developing research capabilities, technological innovation and a strong knowledge-based economy.
The chief minister said the integration of Jharkhand’s traditional knowledge with emerging technologies could contribute not only to the state’s progress but also to the country’s development. He added that the government aims to create an ecosystem that encourages innovation, attracts investment and generates employment opportunities through technology-led growth. The first day of the consultation focused on information technology, artificial intelligence, digital governance and other emerging technologies. Representatives from leading technology companies, including Microsoft, Google and IBM, participated in discussions on the future of technology adoption and digital transformation in the state.

A Business-to-Government (B2G) dialogue was also organised during the event, where stakeholders discussed investment opportunities, partnerships and potential collaborations in sectors such as information technology, artificial intelligence and digital governance. Soren said suggestions received during the consultation would be incorporated into policy planning for Vision 2050. Jharkhand Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar highlighted the importance of technology in shaping the state’s future development and explained the objectives of the consultation. Presentations on the state’s technology ecosystem were delivered by Tallin Kumar from IBM, Sandeep Arora from Microsoft and Rajesh Ranjan from Google.
Several state ministers and senior officials attended the consultation, including Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Deepika Pandey Singh, Health Minister Irfan Ansari, Industries Minister Sanjay Kumar Yadav and Tourism Minister Sudivya Kumar. Senior bureaucrats, including Information Technology Secretary Pooja Singhal, Industries Secretary Arva Rajkamal and other department officials, were also present.
The Vision 2050 initiative is aimed at creating a long-term development framework for Jharkhand by focusing on technology, sustainable growth, industrial expansion and inclusive opportunities. The state government said consultations with industry and experts would help shape policies that position Jharkhand as a hub for innovation and digital advancement while preserving its cultural and natural strengths.
