Israel Warns Europe: Iran's New Long-Range Missiles can Hit Berlin, Paris, and Rome
Iran used long-range ballistic missiles for the first time, alarming Israeli and European officials.
Israeli officials have said that Iran has, for the first time, deployed long-range ballistic missiles during the ongoing conflict, significantly expanding the potential threat beyond the Middle East. According to Israel’s military leadership, the development marks a major escalation, with missile capabilities now extending to parts of Europe.
Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir stated that Iran launched two missiles with a reported range of up to 4,000 kilometres, targeting the US-UK military base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. He described the strike as the first known instance of Iran using such long-range weapons in the current conflict, which intensified after joint US and Israeli operations against Iranian targets began on February 28.
Zamir warned that the missiles were not necessarily intended for Israel alone, noting that their range could place major European capitals such as Berlin, Paris, and Rome within reach. The statement has raised alarm among Western allies, as it suggests a broader strategic capability that could impact regions far beyond the immediate conflict zone.

The escalation comes amid continued hostilities between Iran, Israel, and allied forces, with recent strikes already causing injuries near sensitive sites in Israel. Defence sources in the United Kingdom acknowledged the situation, though details about the impact on Diego Garcia remain limited. The latest developments underline growing concerns about the widening scope of the conflict and the risks of further international escalation.
