Israel Intercepts Missiles From Iran, Multiple Blasts Heard Over Tel Aviv

At least 10 blasts were reported over Tel Aviv after Israel detected new missiles from Iran; air defenses are active.

At least 10 explosions were reported over Tel Aviv on Sunday following the Israeli military’s announcement that it had detected new missiles launched from Iran. AFP journalists in the city reported seeing the blasts across the commercial hub.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the missile launches, stating that defensive systems were actively operating to intercept the incoming threats. “A short while ago, the IDF identified missiles launched from Iran towards the territory of the State of Israel. Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the military said in an official statement.

Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani, the IDF spokesperson, added in a media briefing that Iran’s overall missile activity had decreased in the region. He noted, “Iran's firepower has dropped dramatically all across the region, not only towards Israel.”

The strikes come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following recent coordinated actions by Israel and the United States against Iranian targets, which have escalated regional hostilities.

Residents reported hearing multiple blasts and observing missile interceptions lighting up the sky, prompting temporary disruptions in commercial and residential areas. Authorities urged citizens to follow safety protocols and remain in protected zones.

The situation remains fluid as Israeli defense systems continue to monitor potential threats, while officials assess any damage or casualties resulting from the missile activity.
