Infosys Foundation Chairperson Warns Public After Fraudulent Deepfake Circulates Online
Sudha Murty warns public against AI-faked investment videos targeting savings.
A highly sophisticated deepfake video impersonating prominent philanthropist, author, Rajya Sabha MP, and Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murty has proliferated across various social media platforms as of December 19, 2025, falsely portraying her as enthusiastically endorsing high-return investment schemes and directing viewers to potentially malicious registration links that promise extraordinary financial gains.
The meticulously fabricated footage utilizes cutting-edge artificial intelligence techniques to seamlessly manipulate Murty's voice and facial expressions, depicting her addressing a purported audience with exaggerated claims that numerous investors are already reaping monthly earnings of up to Rs 10 lakh through a suspicious platform referred to as Quantum AI India, while creating a false sense of urgency by insisting that registration opportunities are limited and the access link will soon expire.
This deceptive link, embedded within the video, systematically redirects unsuspecting users to a professionally crafted counterfeit news website that imitates reputable media outlets, employing sophisticated phishing tactics to capture sensitive personal and financial information, thereby exemplifying the rapidly intensifying perils of deepfake technology in fueling organized cyber fraud operations targeting vulnerable individuals throughout India.

On December 19, 2025, Sudha Murty personally addressed the escalating controversy outside Parliament premises in Delhi, articulating profound concern regarding the repeated misuse of her likeness and voice in these fraudulent promotions, unequivocally declaring all circulating videos as complete fabrications orchestrated by advanced AI tools and deceitful perpetrators with malicious motives.
She firmly reiterated to assembled reporters and the public that she has never engaged in, nor will she ever participate in, any form of investment endorsements or discussions, strongly cautioning citizens to completely disregard any digital content displaying her image or voice in investment-related contexts and to diligently protect their hard-earned savings by cross-verifying all opportunities exclusively through established banks or authorized financial institutions.
A notable February case and an August scam were highlighted where a Pune resident lost Rs 43 lakh after encountering deepfakes involving both her and husband Narayana Murthy—demonstrating the persistent and evolving nature of these threats amid a broader surge in celebrity-targeted deepfake scams across the nation.
