IndiGo to Issue Rs 10,000 Vouchers to Passengers Affected by Flight Cancellations

IndiGo compensates disrupted passengers with extra travel credits.

IndiGo, India's leading low-cost carrier, has committed to distributing travel vouchers valued at Rs 10,000 each to passengers who endured significant hardships due to widespread flight cancellations and extended airport stranding on December 3, 4, and 5, 2025, with the rollout of these compensatory measures scheduled to begin on December 26.

These additional vouchers are provided on top of the standard regulatory compensation amounts ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 as stipulated by existing civil aviation guidelines, demonstrating the airline's intent to go beyond mandatory requirements in addressing the inconvenience faced by thousands during the unprecedented operational disruptions.

The decision emerged from a comprehensive high-level review session presided over by Aviation Secretary Samir Sinha, during which government officials explicitly instructed IndiGo to accelerate the compensation process and guarantee that all qualifying passengers receive their entitlements promptly without any additional delays.

To streamline execution, priority will be given to customers who made direct bookings via IndiGo's official website, utilizing readily available passenger records, while the airline has been mandated to proactively liaise with third-party travel agents and online travel agencies to compile necessary details for extending coverage to indirectly booked individuals.

Oversight of the entire disbursement procedure will be handled by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, supplemented by continuous monitoring from the Ministry of Civil Aviation through the dedicated Air Seva grievance redressal portal; concurrently, IndiGo has confirmed full restoration of network connectivity since December 8 and operational stability from December 9 onward, alongside plans to appoint independent technical specialists to conduct a thorough root-cause analysis and implement safeguards against recurrence of similar large-scale failures.
