IndiGo Kuwait-Delhi Flight Diverted to Ahmedabad Over Bomb Threat Note

IndiGo Kuwait-Delhi flight diverted to Ahmedabad after bomb threat note found on board; no explosives detected.

An IndiGo flight traveling from Kuwait to Delhi was diverted to Ahmedabad on Friday after a suspected bomb threat, airport authorities confirmed. The pilot reported a hijack and bomb warning, which had been scribbled on a tissue paper, prompting immediate coordination with air traffic control.

The aircraft, carrying 180 passengers, safely landed at Ahmedabad airport where all passengers were evacuated without incident. Security personnel, along with airport staff, conducted a thorough inspection of the plane, passengers, and their baggage, but no explosive material was detected.

Airport Police Station PI N.D. Nkum said the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) grounded the flight for nearly two hours to ensure safety. “All security protocols were followed, and the aircraft was thoroughly checked. No suspicious object was recovered, but investigation continues,” he added.

This incident comes just days after another bomb threat targeted Ahmedabad airport via email on January 27. That warning, which claimed explosives were planted in the luggage section, was later found to be false, but authorities remain vigilant against potential security risks.

Airport officials have registered a formal complaint, and investigators are tracing the origins of both threats. While no danger was found, the incidents highlight ongoing security challenges in civil aviation and the importance of strict safety protocols.

Passengers and airport visitors were advised to remain calm and follow security guidance, while the airport and IndiGo have not yet released official statements on the incident.
