IndiGo Flight Delayed After Passenger Power Bank Catches Fire at Delhi Airport

A dramatic incident unfolded at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Sunday when a passenger’s power bank ignited on board an IndiGo flight bound for Dimapur, Nagaland. The minor fire, which occurred while the aircraft was taxiing, was quickly extinguished by the alert cabin crew, ensuring the safety of all passengers and crew members.
The incident took place on IndiGo flight 6E 2107, operated by an Airbus A320 neo, as it prepared for takeoff. According to airline sources, the fire originated from a passenger’s personal electronic device, identified as a power bank, stored in a seat-back pocket. “The crew managed the situation swiftly, following standard operating procedures, and the fire was controlled within seconds,” IndiGo stated, emphasizing that no injuries were reported.
The flight, originally scheduled to depart at 12:25 PM, returned to the bay for safety checks. After thorough inspections, the aircraft was cleared for operations and took off at 2:33 PM, landing safely in Dimapur at 4:45 PM, as reported by Flightradar24.com. IndiGo promptly informed relevant authorities in line with protocol and expressed gratitude to passengers for their calm and cooperative response during the incident.
