India’s High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi Meets PM Modi On Bangladesh Relations

India's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Dinesh Trivedi, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday and discussed ways to strengthen the bilateral relationship between India and Bangladesh. The meeting came a day after Trivedi paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Dhaka. The back-to-back engagements come as New Delhi and Dhaka continue to focus on maintaining and strengthening their multifaceted relationship across areas of mutual interest.

The High Commission of India in Bangladesh said Trivedi sought the Prime Minister's guidance on further developing bilateral ties in a constructive and people-centric manner. In a post on X, the mission said the High Commissioner met Modi and discussed strengthening the “multifaceted and enduring bilateral relationship” between the two countries. The statement emphasised the importance of maintaining a constructive approach focused on people while advancing India's engagement with Bangladesh.

Trivedi's meeting with Modi followed his courtesy call on Tarique Rahman in Dhaka on Monday. The interaction with the Bangladesh prime minister provided an opportunity for the Indian diplomat to engage with the country's leadership before returning to New Delhi for consultations with the Indian prime minister. Details of the discussions between Trivedi and Rahman were not immediately provided, but the sequence of meetings underlined the importance of diplomatic engagement between the two neighbouring countries.
