Indian sailor dies after dhow fire incident near Strait of Hormuz.
An Indian sailor was killed and several others were injured after a wooden dhow caught fire near the Strait of Hormuz, officials confirmed on Saturday. The incident took place on Friday, with 17 other Indian crew members being rescued after the vessel capsized following the blaze. Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the fire.
According to government sources, the dhow was carrying general cargo and had a total of 18 Indian crew members on board. The fire broke out while the vessel was navigating close to the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route through which a significant share of the world’s oil trade passes.
Rescue operations were carried out by a passing vessel in the area, which managed to save the majority of the crew. Officials confirmed that one Indian sailor died in the incident, while four others sustained burn injuries. The injured crew members were transported to Dubai for medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.

Officials said representatives from the Indian Consulate in Dubai met the rescued sailors soon after the incident and are providing necessary assistance.
