Indian Railways to Operate Special Trains for Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

Indian Railways launches special trains for devotees on Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s 350th Martyrdom Day.

In commemoration of the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, Indian Railways has announced the operation of special train services to ensure safe and seamless travel for devotees heading to Sri Anandpur Sahib. The announcement was made by S. Ravneet Singh, Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries, who emphasized the Railways' commitment to supporting this solemn occasion.

To accommodate the expected surge in pilgrim traffic, two dedicated train services will be run starting November 22, 2025. The first is a 22-coach special train departing from Patna Sahib on November 23 at 6:40 AM, arriving at Sri Anandpur Sahib early on November 24. The return journey will commence on November 25 at 9 PM, with stops including Lucknow, Moradabad, and Ambala before reaching Old Delhi at 11:30 PM.

The second service is an all-AC special train operating daily from Old Delhi at 7 AM on November 22, 23, 24, and 25, reaching Sri Anandpur Sahib around 1:45 PM the same day. Return trips leave Sri Anandpur Sahib at 8:30 PM daily and arrive in Delhi at 3:15 AM the next morning, stopping at several key stations such as Sonipat, Panipat, Kurukshetra, and Ambala.

Minister Ravneet Singh expressed gratitude to the central leadership for their support of the initiative and reaffirmed Indian Railways' role in providing dependable, accessible transportation for large numbers of Sikh devotees observing the martyrdom anniversary. The Railways urged passengers to plan their travel accordingly and take advantage of these special services for a hassle-free pilgrimage.

The Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji honors the ninth Sikh Guru’s sacrifice for religious freedom, truth, and human dignity, values that continue to inspire millions. Indian Railways’ efforts reflect a blend of respect for tradition and modern commitment to serving the spiritual needs of the nation’s citizens.
