Indian-Origin Motel Manager Brutally Beheaded In Texas, Co-Worker Arrested
Chandra Mouli “Bob” Nagamallaiah killed after dispute; suspect charged with capital murder.
A 50-year-old Indian-origin motel manager, Chandra Mouli “Bob” Nagamallaiah, was brutally beheaded on September 10, 2025, at the Downtown Suites motel in Dallas, Texas, following a dispute over a broken washing machine. The suspect, 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, a co-worker, has been arrested and charged with capital murder, according to the Dallas Police Department. The horrific incident occurred in front of Nagamallaiah’s wife and 18-year-old son, who attempted to intervene.
The altercation began when Nagamallaiah instructed Cobos-Martinez and a female colleague not to use a malfunctioning washing machine, communicating through the colleague as a translator. This reportedly enraged Cobos-Martinez, who retrieved a machete and attacked Nagamallaiah. Surveillance footage captured the suspect pursuing the victim to the motel office, where the fatal assault took place despite efforts by Nagamallaiah’s family to stop it. Cobos-Martinez, with a prior criminal record in Houston for auto theft and assault, is being held without bond and could face life imprisonment without parole or the death penalty if convicted.
Nagamallaiah, originally from Karnataka, India, was known as “Bob” to friends and family, who described him as a devoted husband, loving father, and kind-hearted individual. “This unimaginable tragedy was deeply traumatic,” friends said in a statement. “Bob’s life was taken in a brutal attack that has shaken our community.” The Indian-American community in Dallas has rallied to support his grieving family, launching a fundraiser to cover funeral expenses, living costs, and his son’s college education.
