Indian Army Agniveer 2026: Over 25,000 Vacancies Now Open for Applications

Indian Army launches Agniveer 2026 recruitment for over 25,000 posts in GD, Technical, Tradesman and other categories under Agnipath scheme.

The Indian Army has commenced online registration for the Agniveer Recruitment 2026 under the Agnipath Scheme, offering more than 25,000 vacancies across multiple categories. The drive targets young, unmarried candidates for roles including Agniveer General Duty (GD), Technical, Clerk/Storekeeper Technical, Tradesman, Soldier Pharma, Soldier Technical Nursing Assistant, and Women Military Police. Applications opened on February 13, 2026, and will remain active until April 1, 2026, providing an opportunity for eligible youth to join the armed forces on a four-year service term.

The recruitment is conducted nationally through the official portal at joinindianarmy.nic.in, where interested candidates can register and submit applications online. The process is part of the broader Agnipath initiative, designed to infuse fresh talent into the military while offering skill development, a substantial financial package during service, and post-service benefits including a Seva Nidhi corpus. Vacancies span various educational qualifications, from 8th/10th pass to 12th pass and higher, depending on the specific post, allowing broad participation.

Eligibility criteria include an age limit of 17.5 to 21 years as of the specified dates, with minimum physical standards such as a height of 170 cm (with regional relaxations) and chest measurements of 77 cm unexpanded plus 5 cm expansion for most categories. A non-refundable application processing fee of Rs. 250 applies, payable online via the SBI portal using net banking, credit, or debit cards. Candidates must ensure accurate details, including Aadhaar linkage, to avoid disqualification.

The selection process comprises three phases: a Computer-Based Test (CBT) tentatively scheduled between June 1 and 15, 2026, followed by a Recruitment Rally involving physical fitness tests, medical examinations, and document verification. Merit-based shortlisting will determine final selections, emphasizing transparency and fairness.
