Officers of the Indian Air Force have described their participation in “Operation Sindoor” as a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience, recounting the high-intensity precision strikes carried out as part of the mission following a terror attack in Kashmir last year.According to details shared by personnel involved in the operation, the sequence of events began after 26 civilians were killed in Pahalgam in the Kashmir Valley on April 22.

Within a day of the attack, a high-level review was conducted to assess military options, and by May 5 the operational timeline for “Operation Sindoor” was finalised. The strikes were executed on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.Air Force personnel involved in the mission said the operation required extensive coordination, preparation, and round-the-clock planning in the days leading up to the strikes.

The objective, according to officers, was to carry out precision action against terror installations while simultaneously preparing to counter any retaliatory moves.A young squadron pilot who participated in the mission described being informed in advance and placed on high readiness.
