India on High Alert! Ajit Doval Briefs PM Modi
India on High Alert after Operation Sindoor
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the escalating situation along India’s western border and the aftermath of 'Operation Sindoor,' a tri-service military strike targeting nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) yesterday in the middle of the night.
The hour-long meeting at the PM’s residence was followed by a discussion with the Union Home Secretary, as tensions rise after Pakistan’s ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC).
India has reported 13 civilian deaths and 59 injuries, primarily in Poonch, due to heavy shelling by Pakistan.
In response, India has heightened vigilance, sealing borders in Rajasthan and other states, cancelling government staff leaves, and closing schools and airspace in western cities until May 10. The military is on high alert, with a fully activated multi-layered air defense network, frontline warships deployed in the Arabian Sea, and infantry units prepared for any contingency.
The precision strikes, conducted between 1:05 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, involved 24 missiles targeting terrorist facilities, including Lashkar-e-Taiba’s headquarters in Muridke and training sites in Bahawalpur.
The 25-minute operation was a calculated response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which killed 26 civilians, including a Nepali national. The government emphasized the strikes were “focused, measured, and non-escalatory,” avoiding Pakistani military targets to demonstrate restraint.
An all-party meeting convened at 11 a.m. Thursday briefed political leaders on the operation’s objectives, strategic impact, and India’s preparedness for potential retaliation. The government reiterated its commitment to countering terrorism while maintaining readiness to address any border escalations.
