India Must Lead the World Through Dharma, Says RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat urges Hindus to help India lead the world through dharma and ethics.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on December 28, 2025, urged Hindus worldwide to lead by example and work towards making India a 'Vishwa Guru' (world teacher) once again, emphasizing that this role is not merely an ambition but a pressing need of the global community. Addressing the valedictory session of the Vishwa Sangh Shibir—a triennial congregation of international Hindu organizations—at Kanha Shanti Vanam near Hyderabad, Bhagwat stressed that India must guide humanity through moral and ethical leadership rather than military or economic dominance.

Bhagwat highlighted that as technology advances—including social media and artificial intelligence—human intellect must direct these tools towards global welfare, ensuring technology remains under human control. He noted that other nations have struggled to achieve maximum good for the maximum number of people, and the world is increasingly looking towards India to restore balance lost due to declining righteousness, extremism, and other modern challenges. "Becoming 'Vishwa Guru' is the need of the world," he said, adding that Hindus must live exemplary lives so others naturally learn from them and establish 'dharma' (righteousness) everywhere.

The RSS chief underscored that this leadership would be achieved through character building, selfless service, and social harmony, not conquest or forced conversion. He recalled India's historical contributions—spreading civilization, mathematics, Ayurveda, and knowledge from Mexico to Siberia for thousands of years without invading nations or altering faiths. Bhagwat described the RSS and its affiliated volunteers as one stream among many engaged in this mission, working across fields to earn societal trust through dedicated efforts. "This is our country, our society, and our dharma," he said, calling on the community to prepare for this responsibility.

The three-day Vishwa Sangh Shibir, held from December 25 to 28, 2025, brought together around 2,000 delegates from Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, and other global Hindu organizations, along with their families. Participants from various countries exchanged views and strengthened networks under the theme 'Dharme Sarvam Pratishthitam' (Dharma is the foundation of everything). Organized by Shri Vishwa Niketan, a New Delhi-based trust dedicated to promoting Indian culture among NRIs and Persons of Indian Origin, the event has been held periodically since 1990 in cities including Bengaluru, Vadodara, Mumbai, Gandhinagar, Pune, and Indore.

Bhagwat's address reinforces the RSS's long-standing vision of India as a moral and cultural leader on the global stage. His remarks come at a time when India is increasingly seen as a rising power in technology, economy, and diplomacy, with the RSS positioning itself as a key force in shaping societal values to support this role. The call for exemplary living and dharma-based leadership is expected to resonate within Hindu organizations worldwide as they continue their outreach and service activities.
