India Condemns Renewed West Asia Violence, Urges Immediate De-Escalation

India on Monday expressed deep concern over the renewed military escalation in West Asia, condemning the latest exchange of strikes between Israel and Iran and urging all parties to take immediate steps to reduce tensions and prevent further deterioration of the regional security situation. In a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the government said the fresh hostilities were a matter of serious concern for the international community.

The latest confrontation marks the first direct military exchange between Israel and Iran since a temporary ceasefire came into effect on April 8, raising fears of a broader regional conflict. “India deeply regrets the renewed attacks in West Asia. These developments are a matter of utmost concern to the international community,” the MEA said. The statement underscored New Delhi’s longstanding position that disputes in the region should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy rather than military action.

The government also highlighted the significant humanitarian consequences of the ongoing conflict, noting that the crisis has already inflicted substantial suffering on civilians. According to the MEA, the conflict has now extended beyond 100 days, causing widespread displacement, loss of life, and damage to critical infrastructure across affected areas.

India further warned about the global economic implications of prolonged instability in the region. Given West Asia's importance as a major energy-producing region, any escalation carries implications well beyond the immediate conflict zone.

“We call on all parties to immediately de-escalate tensions, ensure that civilians are not harmed and conclude ongoing negotiations for a diplomatic solution so that peace and stability can return to the region,” the MEA said. The appeal reflects India's efforts to maintain balanced diplomatic engagement with all sides while advocating restraint and a negotiated settlement.

Amid the deteriorating security environment, India also issued a travel advisory for its citizens in Iran. The Indian Embassy in Tehran urged Indian nationals to avoid non-essential travel to the country and advised those currently in Iran to leave using available commercial or alternative transport options. The advisory comes as governments around the world closely monitor developments and assess the potential impact of further military escalation between Israel and Iran.

The latest flare-up has renewed concerns about regional stability, with diplomatic efforts expected to intensify in the coming days as international stakeholders seek to prevent the conflict from expanding further. India has reiterated its support for dialogue and diplomacy as the most effective path toward restoring peace and stability in West Asia.
