INDIA Bloc Unity Crumbling Says Pathak
UP Deputy CM slams SP, Congress for opportunism.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak launched a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress, exposing deep cracks in the INDIA bloc as the two parties announced separate candidatures for the 11 MLC seats. Pathak branded the opposition alliance a “sham,” accusing it of being driven by opportunism and a hunger for power rather than any genuine ideological unity or concern for the public.
“The SP and Congress are deceiving the people of Uttar Pradesh,” Pathak declared in a fiery statement. “They preach alliance unity in public but contest the MLC elections separately, revealing the INDIA bloc’s true colors as a hollow coalition meant to mislead voters.” He argued that the fractured approach to the MLC polls lays bare the alliance’s lack of cohesion and commitment to public welfare.
Pathak also took aim at the Congress, accusing it of undermining democracy by imposing the Emergency, which he called a “prison” for India, and dismissing 90 elected state governments during its tenure. He labeled this period the “darkest chapter” in Indian democracy. Turning to the SP, Pathak alleged that its past governance emboldened goons and mafia, creating an atmosphere of fear, particularly for women. He mockingly referenced an old SP slogan, “Samajwad ka nara hai, khali plot hamara hai,” to highlight what he described as their opportunistic land-grabbing tendencies.

On a confident note, Pathak predicted a landslide victory for NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate, CP Radhakrishnan, asserting strong support for the ruling coalition. As the MLC elections loom, Pathak’s remarks underscore the intensifying political battle in Uttar Pradesh, with the INDIA bloc’s disunity potentially weakening its challenge against the NDA.
