IIT Madras School Connect Opens Applications For Class 9-12 Students

IIT Madras opens 17 online courses for Class 9-12 students.

IIT Madras has invited schools to participate in its School Connect Program, offering students from Classes 9 to 12 an opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to different academic and career fields through introductory courses. Applications for the October 2026 cohort are open until September 30, 2026, according to the institute. The courses are scheduled to begin on October 5, 2026. IIT Madras has stated that the programme is offered across four batches every year, allowing students to participate while balancing the courses with their regular school curriculum.

The School Connect Program is a flagship initiative of the Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE) at IIT Madras. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between school education and higher education by helping students explore emerging disciplines and develop a better understanding of potential academic and career pathways.

A total of 17 courses are being offered to school students. These include Introduction to Data Science and AI, Introduction to Electronic Systems, Introduction to Architecture and Design, Introduction to Engineering Biological Systems, Fun With Math and Computing, Introduction to Law, Math Unpuzzled: Games and Puzzles, The Fundamentals of Aerospace and Introduction to Ecology.

The remaining courses are Humanities Unplugged, Introduction to Chemical Engineering, Economics, Finance, and Money Matters, Game Tech Explorers: Understanding Humans, Machines, and Play, Introduction to Product Design, Molecular Engineering: Opportunities and Challenges, Introduction to Cybersecurity and Introduction to Digital Humanities. The courses are led by faculty and academics from institutions including IIT Madras, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Kanpur, IISER Tirupati, SPA Vijayawada and NALSAR Hyderabad.

According to IIT Madras, the programme is intended to cultivate early interest in science, technology and related disciplines while helping students discover career-aligned academic options. It also seeks to provide foundational exposure to subjects that students may pursue at the higher education level. Students who successfully complete the course requirements will receive official e-certificates from IIT Madras.
