IIT Madras Retains Top Spot in NIRF Rankings for Seventh Straight Year

IISc Bengaluru ranks second, while top universities and colleges across India receive NIRF recognition.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has secured the top position in the Ministry of Education’s National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) for the seventh year in a row, officials announced. The rankings were unveiled by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday.

The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru claimed the second spot overall and was ranked the top university and research institution. Among universities, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) secured second place, followed by Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Jamia Millia Islamia in third and fourth positions, respectively.

In the college category, Delhi University’s Hindu College topped the list, with Miranda House and Hans Raj College in second and third places. Kirori Mal College and St Stephen’s College ranked fourth and fifth, respectively.

For open universities, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) led, followed by Karnataka State Open University, Mysuru.
