IIM Kozhikode Inaugurates 12-Terminal Bloomberg Finance Lab For Students

IIM Kozhikode inaugurates Bloomberg Finance Lab with 12 terminals.

The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode and Bloomberg have inaugurated a Bloomberg Finance Lab equipped with 12 terminals, providing students with direct access to professional financial-market technology. The facility is intended to strengthen practical learning by enabling students to work with the same data, analytical tools and market intelligence used by finance professionals.

The lab will allow students to examine real-time and historical information covering global financial markets, companies, securities and economic developments. By integrating these resources into classroom instruction, IIM Kozhikode aims to help learners connect financial theories with actual market movements and develop a clearer understanding of how investment and business decisions are made.

Bloomberg Terminals are widely used by banks, investment firms, corporations and research organisations to monitor markets, conduct analysis and access financial news. Exposure to the platform can help students practise evaluating securities, tracking economic indicators, studying corporate performance and interpreting changes across asset classes using reliable and regularly updated information.

The initiative is also expected to support evidence-based decision-making by encouraging students to assess market data rather than relying only on theoretical assumptions. Learners pursuing finance and related management subjects can use the facility for coursework, research projects and market simulations, allowing them to build analytical capabilities in an environment resembling professional financial workplaces.

With the establishment of the facility, IIM Kozhikode joins more than 1,200 educational institutions worldwide that use Bloomberg technology within their curricula. The growing adoption of professional platforms by universities and business schools reflects efforts to reduce the gap between academic instruction and the technical skills expected from graduates entering finance and investment-related roles.

The collaboration adds an industry-oriented component to IIM Kozhikode’s management education by combining classroom teaching with hands-on exposure to international financial markets. The 12-terminal lab can support practical training in areas such as market research, portfolio analysis, corporate finance and investment evaluation, helping students prepare for careers that require data interpretation and informed financial judgement.
