IGNOU TEE December 2025 Registration Extended to October 26; Late Fee Period From October 27

IGNOU extends December 2025 TEE registration to October 26; the late fee option opens October 27.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) announced an extension of the registration deadline for its December 2025 Term-End Examinations (TEE), providing relief to thousands of distance learners across the country. Originally slated to close today, the window has been pushed back to October 26, allowing eligible students more time to apply through the official IGNOU-Samarth portal at ignou.samarth.edu.in. This move comes amid a surge in enrolments for IGNOU's flexible online and Open Distance Learning (ODL) programmes, which cater to over 4 million students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma courses.

The extension reflects the university's commitment to accessibility, especially for working professionals and rural learners who form the backbone of its diverse student base. Examinations, conducted in both pen-and-paper and Computer-Based Test (CBT) modes, are scheduled to commence on December 1, 2025, across 700+ exam centres nationwide.

Registration requires a nominal fee of Rs. 200 per theory course, underscoring IGNOU's affordable model that has democratised higher education since its inception in 1985. For those missing the regular deadline, a late-fee option of Rs. 1,100 opens on October 27 and runs until October 31, ensuring no one is entirely excluded. To qualify, candidates must have cleared their semester or annual course fees, submitted assignments by the stipulated dates, and fulfilled the minimum study period for each programme.

This rigorous eligibility framework maintains academic integrity while accommodating the unique challenges of distance education, such as balancing studies with employment or family responsibilities. IGNOU's TEEs are pivotal for degree progression, with results influencing everything from job promotions to further admissions, making timely registration crucial.

The step-by-step registration process is user-friendly, designed to minimise errors for first-time applicants. Students should begin by visiting ignou.samarth.edu.in and selecting "New Registration" if needed, followed by logging in with their enrolment number and password. Once details for desired courses are entered accurately, submission confirms participation. IGNOU advises double-checking course selections to avoid discrepancies, as amendments post-registration are limited. This digital shift, accelerated post-pandemic, has streamlined operations but also highlighted the need for digital literacy support, with the university offering helplines and regional centre guidance to assist enrollees.

As India's largest open university, IGNOU's extensions like this one align with its mission to bridge educational gaps in a nation where only 27% of the population holds higher education qualifications, per recent government data. With the academic year winding down, this grace period could boost participation rates, potentially impacting pass percentages that hover around 70% in TEEs.

Students are urged to act promptly, ensuring all prerequisites are met to avoid last-minute hurdles. As the portal buzzes with activity, IGNOU reaffirms its role as a beacon for inclusive learning, empowering aspirants from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to chase their academic dreams without barriers.
