I Want To Be Like Amit Shah! Delhi CM Rekha Gupta's Wishlist Revealed

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, in an exclusive interview on Wednesday, revealed her admiration for Union Home Minister Amit Shah, calling him a “daring personality” and her second role model after Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gupta, who led the BJP to a historic win in the February 5, 2025, Delhi Assembly polls, said she aspires to emulate Shah’s decisive leadership.

“Shah ji has the capacity to take tough decisions and see them through, no matter the hurdles,” Gupta told PTI. The first-time MLA, who ended the Aam Aadmi Party’s 10-year reign by securing 48 seats in the 70-member House, contrasted Shah’s boldness with Modi’s saintly devotion. “Modi ji serves the country as his worship, like a saint,” she said, also naming Nitin Gadkari among the party’s dedicated stalwarts.

Gupta, the first BJP CM in Delhi in 27 years, highlighted Shah’s unwavering resolve in making big calls for the nation. “I want to become like Amit Shah ji—he does what he says,” she affirmed, inspired by his ability to act without hesitation. She credited the BJP’s nurturing culture for her rise, describing it as a “chain of hand-holding” that grooms leaders across generations.

The BJP’s landslide victory—AAP won 22 seats, while Congress scored zero for the second time—marked a turning point for Delhi. Gupta’s admiration for Shah, fresh off his recent J&K security push, signals her intent to govern with similar grit. As Delhi’s new CM, her bold aspirations set the stage for a tenure rooted in action.
