Hyderabad Metro Rushes Donor Heart, Lungs Across City in 25 Minutes

Hyderabad Metro Rail played a vital role in a life-saving organ transport operation this week by helping transfer a donor heart and lungs across the city within the critical time required for transplantation. The organs were transported from CARE Hospitals in Gachibowli to KIMS Hospitals on Minister Road in Secunderabad, with the Metro network being used to ensure a swift and uninterrupted journey. The successful operation highlighted the growing role of public transport infrastructure in supporting emergency medical services.

The donor organs travelled through the Hyderabad Metro network from Raidurg station to Rasoolpura station, covering approximately 14 kilometres across 13 stations in just 25 minutes. The journey was completed between 11:40 am and 12:05 pm, significantly reducing travel time compared to conventional road transport, where traffic congestion could have caused critical delays.
