Heavy Rain Triggers Tragedy: Live Wire Electrocutes Seven-Year-Old Boy In Karnataka

A seven-year-old boy died after allegedly coming into contact with a live electric wire that had fallen onto a road following heavy rainfall in Karnataka’s Kolar city, officials said on Monday. The victim, identified as Syed Rehman, was reportedly attending a religious death ceremony gathering when the tragic incident occurred. Authorities said the accident created panic among people assembled at the venue.

According to reports, a large crowd had gathered for the ceremony and was having food when the live wire came into contact with the road. Syed Rehman reportedly stepped near the wire and suffered a fatal electric shock. CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced online, showing the child collapsing moments after touching the wire. People present at the scene were later seen dragging the child away from the live cable in an attempt to rescue him.

The incident triggered chaos and fear among those attending the gathering, with several people rushing away from the area. Reports said three other children, identified as Imran, Jabi, and Sye, were also affected during the incident, though officials have not yet released detailed information regarding their condition. Emergency assistance was reportedly rushed to the spot soon after the accident.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine how the electric wire fell onto the road and whether negligence played a role in the incident. Heavy rains have been reported in parts of Karnataka in recent days, leading to concerns over damaged electrical infrastructure and public safety. Officials said further inquiries are underway to establish the exact sequence of events and assess responsibility for the accident.
