Heavy rain and thundershowers forecast across Uttar Pradesh.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread thundershowers across Uttar Pradesh over the next few days, with heavy rainfall expected at isolated locations. The warning comes after several parts of the state received rainfall during the 24 hours till Tuesday evening, affecting daily life in some districts and prompting authorities to strengthen flood preparedness measures. According to the IMD, rainfall was recorded in multiple areas of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday, with Churk receiving the highest rainfall at 33.2 mm.
Other locations that reported significant rainfall included Kanpur at 22 mm, Jhansi at 19.2 mm and Hamirpur at 11 mm. The weather department has advised residents and authorities to remain alert as further rainfall activity is expected across the state. In Prayagraj, a brief spell of rain disrupted normal activities, with waterlogging reported on important roads and commercial areas. Several parts of the city, including Rambagh, witnessed traffic disruptions due to accumulated water, causing inconvenience to commuters and local residents.
Authorities have been monitoring affected areas to manage the impact of rainfall and ensure movement of traffic. Meanwhile, officials in Bareilly have increased preparedness measures after rising water levels in the Ramganga river. The district administration has established 49 flood posts and 27 relief camps to respond to any emergency situation arising from possible flooding. Officials said the arrangements were aimed at ensuring quick assistance and evacuation support if water levels rise further.

In Gonda district, authorities have stepped up monitoring along the embankments of the Ghagra and Saryu rivers as water levels continue to rise. Officials are keeping a close watch on vulnerable areas and have increased surveillance along river banks to prevent damage from possible flooding. The IMD has predicted continued rainfall activity in Uttar Pradesh due to prevailing weather conditions, with thunderstorms and heavy showers likely in several areas. Residents in low-lying regions have been advised to remain cautious, particularly in districts vulnerable to waterlogging and river flooding.
The state administration and district authorities are coordinating preparedness efforts as the monsoon system remains active. Officials are focusing on maintaining essential services, monitoring rivers and ensuring that relief arrangements are available in areas that may face heavy rainfall impact. With more rain expected in the coming days, authorities have urged people to follow weather advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during intense rainfall or thunderstorms. The IMD is expected to continue issuing updates as weather conditions develop across Uttar Pradesh.
