Havildar Gajendra Singh Makes Supreme Sacrifice in Kishtwar Counter-Terror Ops

Havildar Gajendra Singh of Special Forces was martyred during Operation Trashi-I in Kishtwar’s Singpura area; the operation continues.

A Havildar of the Indian Army was killed during a counter-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district on Monday, officials confirmed. The operation, codenamed Trashi-I, is ongoing in the Son Nar area, northeast of Chhatroo.

Army officials stated that Havildar Gajendra Singh, a member of the Special Forces, made the “supreme sacrifice” while executing the operation. “The GOC, White Knight Corps and all ranks pay solemn tribute to Havildar Gajendra Singh,” the official statement read.

The operation was launched in response to intelligence reports indicating the presence of terrorists in the region. Security forces, including the army and local police, have been coordinating to neutralise the threat while safeguarding civilians in nearby villages.

While the encounter resulted in the loss of Havildar Singh, the exact number of terrorists involved and any casualties on their side have not yet been confirmed. Officials emphasised that the area remains under strict security and the operation continues.

Local residents in and around Son Nar have reported heavy movement of security forces and intermittent aerial surveillance. Authorities have advised villagers to avoid venturing into the operational zone until the area is declared safe.

The army has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the bravery and sacrifice of personnel like Havildar Singh. Further updates are expected as Operation Trashi-I progresses.
