Haryana CM Urges Collective Effort To Save Youth From Drug Abuse
Haryana CM urges collective action against drug abuse.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday said the fight against drugs should not be viewed only as a law-and-order challenge but as a wider campaign to protect society, values and the future of young people. He stressed the need for public participation to turn the battle against drug abuse into a people’s movement across the state.
Addressing the “Ek Police, Ek Sankalp – Drug-Free Haryana” programme at the Haryana Police Academy in Madhuban, Karnal, Saini said drug abuse is affecting families and pushing many young people towards uncertainty. The programme was attended by Station House Officers (SHOs) from across Haryana and focused on strengthening strategies to make the state free from the menace of drugs.
The Chief Minister urged police officials to expand their role beyond maintaining law and order and work as partners in social transformation. He asked SHOs to regularly interact with schools, colleges, panchayats, voluntary organisations, religious groups and youth clubs to spread awareness and encourage young people to stay away from drugs and criminal activities.

Saini said drug networks are increasingly using modern technology, social media and organised channels to reach young people. He emphasised that simply arresting individuals involved in drug trafficking is not enough and that authorities must work towards dismantling the entire supply network. He also highlighted the importance of strengthening public trust and cooperation with the police.
During the event, the Chief Minister congratulated 70 students from the Super-100 programme who cleared the NEET examination and secured admission to medical colleges. He said many of these students came from economically weaker backgrounds and their achievements reflected the importance of providing quality education and opportunities to talented students.
Saini also released the quarterly magazine of the Haryana Police Department, which highlights major achievements and operations, including efforts related to bringing criminals back to India from foreign countries. He said promoting sports among youth is another key priority and expressed his vision of making Haryana a sports hub where young people choose healthy lifestyles and contribute to the nation’s development.
