‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Boosts Khadi Flag Sales Before Independence Day
Khadi Flag Sales Soar in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
As India approaches its Independence Day celebrations, the sale of Khadi-made national flags has surged in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, driven by the government’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, according to local officials. The initiative, part of the Union Ministry of Culture’s Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, encourages citizens to hoist the tricolour at their homes to celebrate national pride.
D V Raut, manager of Khadi Gramodyog Bhandar, reported a significant increase in sales this year. “Last year, we recorded sales of Rs 8 lakh by August 15. This year, we’ve already surpassed Rs 7.5 lakh and expect to reach Rs 9 lakh, a rise of nearly Rs 1.25 lakh, thanks to the campaign’s impact,” Raut told PTI on Tuesday. The Khadi Gramodyog Bhandar, one of 14 shops operated by the Marathwada Khadi Gramodyog Samiti, has been a trusted supplier of national flags for decades.
Raut noted that Khadi flags are highly sought after, with sizes measuring 2 x 3 feet and 3 x 4.5 feet being particularly popular among buyers, including government offices and ordinary citizens. “The prices remain unchanged, ensuring accessibility,” he said. The shop also offers smaller table flags, ranging from 4 x 6 to 8 x 12 inches, all crafted locally by their team.

Local residents and institutions alike are embracing the initiative, boosting both patriotism and the local Khadi industry.
