Gurugram Restaurant Faces Food Safety Concern After Live Worm Found Inside Sandwich

A live worm was allegedly found in a sandwich at the PAUL restaurant at One Horizon Centre on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road, raising concerns over food hygiene at the upscale outlet. A video recorded by the customer, showing the worm crawling on the food, has circulated widely on social media and drawn attention to the incident. The customer, Sulabh Mathur, said he visited the restaurant for breakfast at around 11 am. According to his account, he and his group ordered six to seven dishes during the meal.
The alleged discovery was made after Mathur had already eaten almost half of the sandwich, making the incident particularly concerning from a food-safety perspective. A video shared by Mathur shows what appears to be a white worm moving across the meat placed between the sandwich bread. The footage appears to have been recorded after the customer noticed the object while eating. The video does not independently establish how the worm entered the sandwich or at what stage of preparation the alleged contamination occurred.
Sharing the video on Instagram, Mathur described the incident as shocking and said the group had been horrified after discovering a live worm in the food. His post has since attracted attention online, with the footage prompting questions about the restaurant’s food-handling, storage and preparation practices. The alleged incident has also highlighted the importance of hygiene controls in restaurants, particularly when food containing meat and other perishable ingredients is prepared and served to customers.
