Gujarat Unveils Rs 1,848 Crore Projects, Flags Off 30 New E-Buses In Gandhinagar
Gandhinagar receives major infrastructure and public transport upgrades.
Gujarat’s Gandhinagar district received development projects worth Rs 1,848 crore on Saturday, covering road connectivity, drainage, water supply, healthcare, public transport and urban amenities. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi also flagged off around 30 new electric buses under the PM-eBus Sewa as part of efforts to strengthen public transport in the state capital.
The overall package includes development works worth Rs 798 crore being undertaken by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation and another Rs 1,050 crore under the Roads and Buildings Department. Patel also announced additional projects worth Rs 48.26 crore for comprehensive development of the capital, with a focus on addressing traffic pressures and strengthening urban infrastructure.
Among the newly announced works is a Rs 20.76 crore underpass at Bhat-Koteshwar Crossing, aimed at addressing the increasing traffic burden on the Gandhinagar-Koba-Airport Road. The government will also spend Rs 12.80 crore on strengthening the Sabarmati River bridge connecting Raksha Shakti Circle towards GIFT City-Shahpur. Another Rs 7.70 crore has been earmarked for junction and road development between GIFT City and PDPU, while Rs 7 crore will be spent on road-safety and paver works between Raksha Shakti Circle and GIFT City Circle.

The civic development package also includes an 80-metre road connecting Airport Road with Raysan and a service road from Raksha Shakti to Sargasan. New concrete roads will be developed in Khoraj, Pethapur, Randheja, Kolavada, Vavol, Vasana Hadmatiya and Adivada. An overhead water tank is planned in Randheja, while new drainage lines will be laid across Sectors 1 to 30 and seven surrounding villages to address waterlogging during the monsoon.
The projects also include the establishment of an urban primary health centre in Sargasan and modern theme-based smart Anganwadis aimed at providing children with facilities comparable to a private play school. Modern gardens will be developed in Jhundal, Amiyapur and Sector 20, while the Swarnim Cultural Centre at Raysan will be renovated and Raysan Chowk will also be developed. Mayor Mira Patel said the works cover both older sectors and newly incorporated villages, with attention to basic facilities and connectivity.
The new e-buses were flagged off as part of the push to improve public transport in Gandhinagar. After the ceremony, Patel and Sanghavi travelled as ordinary passengers in one of the newly inaugurated buses from the venue to the Ministers’ Residential Complex, accompanied by senior civic and political representatives. The development package is expected to strengthen Gandhinagar’s road, drainage, water, healthcare and public transport infrastructure while expanding civic amenities across the capital and surrounding areas.
