Gujarat Governor Urges Citizens To Prioritise National Interest On Independence Day

Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat on Saturday urged citizens to keep national interest above all else and discharge their social and national responsibilities with honesty, hard work and a spirit of service. He made the appeal while hoisting the national flag at Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar on the occasion of India's 80th Independence Day. Devvrat also called upon citizens to contribute actively to the country's progress and development.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor urged people to make a firm resolve to contribute towards fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’. He emphasised the importance of collective efforts in achieving the goal of a developed India and encouraged citizens to perform their responsibilities sincerely. His message also focused on the role of young Indians in contributing to the country's development by 2047.

Devvrat paid tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India's freedom and integrity. Remembering their contribution, he urged citizens to draw inspiration from their courage, dedication and service to the nation. He stressed that the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle should continue to guide citizens in carrying out their responsibilities towards the country.

As part of the Independence Day observance, the Governor also planted trees on the Lok Bhavan premises, linking the national celebration with a message of environmental protection and conservation. He extended Independence Day greetings to the people of Gujarat and citizens across the country and wished for peace, prosperity and progress. The plantation activity reinforced the importance of protecting nature alongside the country's broader development goals.

The state-level Independence Day celebrations were held in Amreli, where Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel hoisted the national flag at the Police Parade Ground. The programme featured a ceremonial parade and demonstrations by police personnel, including a horse show, dog show and motorcycle display. Cultural performances were also organised as part of the celebrations, adding to the programme's patriotic atmosphere.

A tree plantation programme was also held during the state-level celebrations to promote environmental conservation. The Independence Day observances across Gujarat combined tributes to the freedom movement with messages on national development, public responsibility and environmental protection. Devvrat's appeal centred on placing national interest first and encouraging citizens to contribute collectively towards building a developed India.
