Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi celebrated Holi with elderly residents at an old age home in Surat on Wednesday, spreading colours, joy, and festive cheer. During the visit, Sanghavi applied colours, interacted with the residents, and sought their blessings, describing the occasion as an emotional and meaningful moment.
“Today is the sacred occasion of Holi. I extend my heartfelt greetings to all the citizens of my state,” Sanghavi said. He added that while families traditionally come together during the festival, he considered the elderly residents of the old age home as part of his larger family, sharing the spirit of Holi with them.
Highlighting the contributions of the elderly, Sanghavi noted that they have shaped society by instilling values and spreading happiness. “We must pray that the colours of happiness remain in everyone’s life,” he said, adding that the tears of joy he witnessed among the residents were blessings for him. He also remarked that he visits them during every festival, emphasizing the importance of continued engagement and care for senior citizens.

In addition to celebrating Holi, Sanghavi addressed questions on the ongoing war situation abroad, assuring that the government has arrangements in place to safely bring back Indian citizens. He referenced India’s evacuation operations during the Ukraine crisis and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in ensuring the safe return of citizens.
Meanwhile, in Mehsana, Gujarat Minister Rushikesh Patel also conveyed Holi greetings, noting that the festival is celebrated with enthusiasm across India. He referred to the long-standing Dhuleti tradition in Visnagar, where local groups gather for playful and energetic festivities as part of the community’s customs.
Sanghavi’s visit highlighted the dual spirit of Holi: celebration and social care, bringing together citizens across generations while reinforcing the importance of safety and support during challenging times.
