Grandfather Dies Of Cardiac Arrest After Remaining Unwell Since Ketan Agarwal's Murder

Grandfather succumbed to cardiac arrest after prolonged illness.

Devichand Agarwal, the grandfather of Ketan Agarwal, who was allegedly murdered after being pushed from Lohagad Fort near Pune last month, died of cardiac arrest on Saturday night, his family confirmed. He was 71 years old. According to family members, Devichand had been unwell ever since the death of his grandson and passed away at around 9:45 pm.

Ketan Agarwal died on June 18 after falling from Lohagad Fort, an incident that initially appeared to be an accidental fall but later became the subject of a murder investigation. Pune Rural Police have alleged that the victim's fiancée, Siya Goyal, and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary conspired to kill him. Investigators suspect that Goyal, who was allegedly unwilling to marry at this stage of her life, was under pressure from her family to proceed with the marriage and plotted the crime with Chaudhary.

As part of the ongoing investigation, Pune Rural Police on Thursday took Siya Goyal to an open ground in Pune's Lullanagar area, where she and Chaudhary had allegedly rehearsed their plan before the incident. During the investigation, officers also recovered the clothes Goyal is believed to have worn on the day Ketan Agarwal died. The police are using the recovered evidence and the reconstruction exercise to strengthen their case.

The investigation has also involved multiple crime scene recreations. Earlier this week, police escorted co-accused Chetan Chaudhary to Lohagad Fort, where investigators reconstructed the alleged sequence of events using a dummy matching the victim's weight. Officials said the exercise was aimed at understanding how the accused allegedly pushed Agarwal from the fort and verifying statements made during questioning.

Meanwhile, Siya Goyal's father, Praveen Goyal, said police officers visited their residence but did not question him during the search. He stated that the officials remained at the house for around 30 to 45 minutes while carrying out their work. Citing health issues, he declined to comment further on the case, saying doctors had advised him to rest. The investigation into Ketan Agarwal's death remains ongoing as police continue to gather evidence and examine the alleged conspiracy behind the incident.
