Government Workshop in Pune Guides 350 Retiring Employees on Pension Benefits

Government to hold pre-retirement counselling workshop in Pune for smoother transition of retiring employees.

In an effort to enhance the ease of living for pensioners, the Government of India is set to host the 58th Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop in Pune on December 29. The initiative, led by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of simplifying pension-related processes through digitisation and progressive policy measures.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will inaugurate the workshop, which aims to guide retiring employees through a smooth transition into post-retirement life. The program will feature sessions on Retirement Benefits, CGHS, BHAVISHYA portal, Integrated Pensioners Portal, Family Pension, CPENGRAMS, ANUBHAV, and Digital Life Certificate procedures.

The workshop is expected to benefit around 350 retirees across Maharashtra who are due to retire within the next 12 months. In addition to counselling, the Department will conduct a Pensioners’ Awareness Programme for retired officials and the 11th Bankers’ Awareness Programme for pension-disbursing banks to spread awareness about relevant rules and processes.

Participating banks will provide guidance on opening pension accounts, investment options, and pension corpus management, ensuring retirees are well-informed about available financial and social security tools. The workshop also aims to familiarise attendees with digitised services to reduce paperwork and delays.

The government continues to promote the Atal Pension Yojana (APY), which has recorded gross enrollment of 8,45,17,419 as of November 30, 2025. APY provides a flexible minimum guaranteed monthly pension ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000, targeting workers in the unorganised sector and the underprivileged.

Through these initiatives, the government and the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) are working to increase awareness and coverage of pension schemes across the country, including rural and remote areas, ensuring a secure and informed retirement for citizens.
