Government Releases PM Kisan 23rd Installment, Benefiting More Than 9 Crore Farmers

Eligible farmers receive ₹2,000 under PM Kisan scheme.

The Centre is set to release the 23rd installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on Friday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to transfer financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries during an event in Tarakeswar, located in West Bengal's Hooghly district. More than 9.44 crore farmers across the country are expected to benefit from the latest disbursement.

According to official information, the government will transfer approximately ₹18,880 crore directly into the bank accounts of eligible farmers through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism. Under the installment, each beneficiary farmer will receive ₹2,000 as part of the Centre's ongoing income support programme aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods and agricultural incomes.

The installment is expected to be released at around 3:45 pm during the Prime Minister's programme in West Bengal. The PM-KISAN scheme remains one of the government's flagship welfare initiatives for the agricultural sector, providing financial assistance to eligible farming families across the country irrespective of landholding size, subject to scheme guidelines and eligibility criteria.

Launched in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme provides annual income support of ₹6,000 to eligible farmer families. The amount is paid in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each and credited directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts. The objective of the programme is to help farmers meet agricultural expenses and support household financial needs throughout the year.

The previous, 22nd installment was released on March 13, 2026, benefiting more than 9.35 crore farmers nationwide. During that round of payments, the government disbursed ₹18,640 crore, including assistance to over 2.15 crore women beneficiaries. The continued expansion of the scheme has made it one of the largest direct income support programmes for farmers in the world.

Farmers awaiting the latest installment can verify their payment and eligibility details through the official PM-KISAN portal. Using the "Know Your Status" feature, beneficiaries can check installment status, Aadhaar linkage, land-seeding information, bank account details and e-KYC compliance. Officials have advised farmers to ensure that their e-KYC and Aadhaar details are updated to avoid delays in receiving benefits. The 23rd installment is expected to provide financial support to millions of farming households as the government continues its efforts to strengthen the agricultural sector and improve rural welfare.
