Government Land To Be Used For Indiramma Houses In Telangana Cities
Telangana expands urban housing using government land.
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to identify and utilise unused government land for the construction of Indiramma houses in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) zone. The move is aimed at providing affordable housing to economically weaker sections while ensuring that beneficiaries remain connected to employment and livelihood opportunities.
During a review meeting on the implementation of the Indiramma urban housing scheme, the Chief Minister asked officials to examine vacant lands owned by various government departments within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. Officials presented details of housing sites identified across several Assembly constituencies and discussed possible locations for construction.
According to the Chief Minister’s Office, land belonging to departments such as Police, Revenue and Transport will be considered for the housing project. The departments will reportedly receive alternative land arrangements elsewhere in exchange for the land utilised for Indiramma houses.

Revanth Reddy stressed that housing projects for poor families should not be developed in isolated areas far from urban centres. He said previous experiences showed that houses located away from workplaces often remained unused because residents faced difficulties in accessing jobs, transportation and daily necessities.
Under the Indiramma housing scheme, the Telangana government has announced plans to construct homes across several constituencies in the CURE area. Each flat will have a total built-up area of around 528 square feet and a carpet area of 400 square feet. The estimated construction cost is around Rs 11 lakh, with the government providing a subsidy of Rs 5 lakh and beneficiaries contributing the remaining Rs 6 lakh, while the state bears the land cost.
In the first phase, the government plans to construct and distribute 7,680 flats across 17 constituencies, including Rajendranagar, Maheshwaram, Serilingampally, Malkajgiri, Nampally, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Kukatpally, Medchal, Secunderabad Cantonment and Malakpet. The Chief Minister has instructed officials to speed up the identification of suitable government land to begin the housing work.
