Girls Beat Boys Again as CBSE Class 10 Pass Rate Climbs to 93.70 Per Cent

CBSE Class 10 Results 2026 were declared, with girls outperforming boys at 94.99 per cent.

The Central Board of Secondary Education has officially announced the Class 10 board examination results for 2026 on April 15, recording an overall pass percentage of 93.70%. This marks a marginal improvement from last year’s 93.66%, reflecting consistent academic performance across the country. With over 24.8 lakh students registered and approximately 24.7 lakh appearing for the exams, the results highlight the scale and significance of one of India’s largest school-level assessments.

Region-wise performance once again saw southern zones dominate, with Trivandrum and Vijayawada emerging as top performers, each achieving an impressive pass rate of 99.79%. Chennai followed closely with 99.58%, while Delhi West and Delhi East reported pass percentages of 97.45% and 97.33%, respectively. On the other end of the spectrum, Guwahati recorded the lowest regional performance at 85.32%, indicating regional disparities that continue to persist.

In terms of gender performance, girls continued their streak of outperforming boys, achieving a pass percentage of 94.99% compared to 92.69% among boys. Transgender students recorded a pass percentage of 87.50%, reflecting gradual inclusion and participation in the education system. These figures underline a broader trend of improved academic outcomes among female students across board examinations in recent years.

School-wise data revealed that centrally administered institutions led the rankings, with Kendriya Vidyalayas achieving a remarkable 99.57% pass rate, followed closely by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas at 99.42%. Private schools recorded a pass percentage of 93.77%, while government and government-aided schools reported 91.43% and 91.01%, respectively. Meanwhile, students from CBSE-affiliated international schools achieved a pass rate of 99.10%, showing improvement from the previous year.

Among high achievers, 8.96% of students scored 90% and above, while 2.24% crossed the 95% mark, reflecting a strong cohort of top performers. Children with Special Needs also demonstrated commendable results, with 9,088 out of 9,443 students passing, resulting in a pass percentage of 96.24%. Of these, 452 students scored above 90%, and 91 exceeded 95%, highlighting inclusive academic success. Overall, the 2026 results reflect stability, gradual improvement, and a continued emphasis on performance across regions, institutions, and student categories.
