Ghaziabad To See Major Upgrade Under ₹2,200 Crore Development Project
Ghaziabad to undergo major transformation under ₹2,200 crore project.
Ghaziabad is set for a major infrastructure and urban makeover after the Uttar Pradesh government approved a ₹2,200 crore integrated development project aimed at transforming the city into a hub for sports, tourism, and modern urban living.
The project, cleared by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), centres around the construction of an international cricket stadium and a large-scale Aerocity township in the Raj Nagar Extension (Morti area). Officials say the plan is designed to reposition Ghaziabad as a key destination in the National Capital Region with improved global connectivity and investment appeal.
Under the proposal, around ₹400 crore will be invested in building the cricket stadium across 37 acres, while nearly ₹1,800 crore will go into developing the surrounding Aerocity spread over about 380 acres. The integrated zone is expected to combine sports infrastructure with commercial, residential, and hospitality spaces.

According to officials, the stadium will be built to international standards with a seating capacity of over 30,000 spectators, along with facilities such as a modern media centre and high-tech lighting systems. The surrounding Aerocity is planned to include hotels, retail complexes, business hubs, entertainment zones, and convention facilities, creating a self-sustained urban ecosystem.
The development is expected to boost employment generation and attract private investment across multiple sectors including construction, real estate, tourism, and services. Authorities also believe the project could help decongest parts of Delhi-NCR by creating an alternative commercial and residential centre in western Uttar Pradesh.
Officials have indicated that the project, which had been conceptualised several years ago but remained stalled, is now being fast-tracked under a joint venture model involving the UP Cricket Association. Once completed, it is expected to significantly alter Ghaziabad’s urban profile and strengthen its position as a major growth node in the region.
