Ghaziabad Case Update: Sisters' Father Had Two Wives (Sisters), Five Children Altogether
New probe details show Ghaziabad suicide victims' father had two wives (sisters) and five children.
Three minor sisters in Ghaziabad — aged 16, 14 and 12 — died by suicide after jumping from the ninth floor of their residential building in the Bharat City society, police confirmed. The incident occurred in the early hours of February 4, 2026, and has profoundly shocked the local community.
Police investigation and family interviews have revealed that the girls’ father, identified as Chetan Kumar, had married twice — to two women who were biological sisters. He first married his elder wife but had no children with her, prompting a second marriage to his younger sister-in-law. Between both marriages, the couple had five children, with the three daughters who died by suicide being half-siblings — one from the first marriage and two from the second.
According to officials, the three sisters lived together with their parents and siblings. Preliminary information suggests that they became reclusive and stopped attending school over the past two years. Police are probing multiple angles, including intense involvement with an online mobile game — described as a task-based Korean gaming app — which authorities say may have influenced their mental state.

A suicide note and diary pages were recovered from the scene, in which the girls apologised to their parents and detailed aspects of their digital obsessions. One note reportedly said, “Sorry, Papa — Korea is our life,” indicating a deep emotional attachment to online gaming and Korean culture.
Residents reported hearing loud thuds in the early morning, prompting immediate emergency response. By the time family members forced entry into the locked room, all three had already jumped. They were rushed to a hospital in Loni but were declared dead on arrival.
Police continue to examine the girls’ mobile phones, messages and digital activity. Authorities are also consulting cyber-crime experts to better understand the role — if any — of the online gaming platform in this tragedy. The case has renewed attention on youth mental health and the potential impact of unsupervised digital content on minors.a
