Gautam Adani Leads Groundbreaking Ceremony For Bihar Vision Care Project
Gautam Adani launches Bihar vision care initiative to expand healthcare.
Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, is set to lead a groundbreaking ceremony in Bihar’s Saran district on Sunday to unveil plans for a large-scale vision care and skilling ecosystem aimed at improving healthcare access in underserved regions across northern and central India. The initiative is being organised jointly by the Adani Foundation and Akhand Jyoti Eye Hospital.
The programme is expected to significantly expand affordable rural healthcare infrastructure, particularly in eye care services, while strengthening Bihar’s role in the Adani Group’s long-term social and development initiatives. According to organisers, the expanded ecosystem will be developed in Mastichak village in Saran district and is projected to become one of the world’s largest rural vision care networks once completed.
The project aims to enhance affordable treatment, improve outreach programmes, build skilling capacity, and strengthen last-mile healthcare access for rural communities that often face limited medical facilities. The event is expected to attract attention from business leaders, healthcare professionals, and policymakers, reflecting the growing strategic importance of Bihar in the Adani Group’s broader operations.

The conglomerate has steadily expanded its presence across sectors including infrastructure, energy, logistics, cement, city gas distribution, and community development initiatives in several Indian states. Organisers said the programme draws inspiration from Gautam Adani’s philosophy of “Seva Hi Saadhna Hai,” which translates to service being the highest form of worship.
The principle has increasingly shaped the group’s social outreach initiatives, with a stronger focus on healthcare, education, rural development, and community welfare across India. The proposed vision care ecosystem also highlights the increasing role of corporate-backed philanthropic initiatives in addressing gaps in rural healthcare delivery. With eye care access remaining limited in several underserved regions, the project is expected to contribute toward early diagnosis, treatment accessibility, and specialised healthcare training in Bihar and neighbouring states.
