Ganga Expressway Toll Rates Revealed: How Much Will Meerut to Prayagraj Cost You?

Ganga Expressway toll charges expected soon after 15-day free travel window closes.

The newly inaugurated Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh has become a major talking point among commuters, especially regarding the cost of travel once toll collection begins. The 594-kilometre-long expressway connects Meerut to Prayagraj and has significantly reduced travel time across western and eastern parts of the state. However, the official toll rates are yet to be announced, leading to widespread discussion and estimated projections based on existing expressway pricing models.

As per current estimates, the toll for the Ganga Expressway is expected to follow a rate of around ₹2.55 per kilometre for cars. Based on this calculation, a full journey from Meerut to Prayagraj could cost approximately ₹1,500 to ₹1,550 for cars and jeeps. Small commercial vehicles may be charged between ₹2,300 and ₹2,500, while buses and heavy trucks are likely to pay around ₹4,800 to ₹5,000 per trip. These figures remain indicative and are subject to revision once the government finalises the official tariff structure.

At present, commuters are temporarily exempt from paying any toll charges. Following the expressway’s inauguration on April 29, the Uttar Pradesh government has implemented a 15-day toll-free period for all vehicles. This free travel window is expected to continue until around May 13, after which toll collection is likely to begin. Authorities have indicated that final rates will be approved in a cabinet meeting, and payments will be collected through a fully FASTag-based cashless system under a closed tolling mechanism.

The expressway is expected to bring major benefits even after toll implementation begins, offering faster and smoother connectivity across 12 districts including Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh, and Prayagraj. By cutting down travel time and improving road infrastructure, the project aims to boost regional connectivity and economic activity across Uttar Pradesh, making it a significant addition to the state’s highway network.
