From Students to Delivery Agents, CJP's March Draws Diverse Crowd

People from diverse backgrounds, including students, parents, teachers, delivery workers, architects and young professionals, gathered at Jantar Mantar on Monday to participate in the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) proposed march to Parliament. The demonstration, which sought the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, drew participants from different parts of the country as security arrangements were tightened around the protest site. Delhi Police maintained a heavy presence, with barricades erected on roads leading out of Jantar Mantar to prevent the march from proceeding without permission.

By around 9 a.m., a large number of protesters had assembled at the venue carrying banners and raising slogans in support of the movement. While participants prepared for the march, the core leadership of the CJP remained engaged in discussions with Delhi Police officials near the main stage in an attempt to secure permission to proceed towards Parliament. Protesters expressed hope that the march would be allowed to continue peacefully despite the restrictions in place.

According to Delhi Police, the CJP had neither received permission to continue its protest at Jantar Mantar nor sought formal approval to organise a march to Parliament. Authorities had earlier stated that any attempt to move beyond the designated protest site without authorisation would not be permitted. As a result, security personnel remained deployed in significant numbers to maintain law and order and prevent any breach of security in the high-security zone surrounding Parliament.

Participants at the protest represented a broad cross-section of society. Many said they had travelled long distances to join the demonstration, describing it as an opportunity to express their concerns and support the movement's demands. Students formed a substantial portion of the gathering, while parents, professionals and workers from different sectors also joined, reflecting the diverse composition of those participating in the protest.

As negotiations between protest organisers and the police continued, tensions remained high at the site. Protesters stayed assembled near the stage awaiting further developments, while police personnel monitored the situation closely. Barricades, security checks and restricted access to surrounding roads underscored the authorities' efforts to manage the crowd and prevent any unauthorised movement towards Parliament.

The proposed march became one of the focal points of the ongoing CJP-led agitation, which has attracted participants from multiple states. With both organisers and law enforcement maintaining their respective positions, the situation at Jantar Mantar remained fluid, as discussions continued over whether the protesters would be allowed to proceed or be required to remain within the designated protest area.
