Flood Horror! Army Rescues Trapped MP Villagers
Heavy rains flood MP; Army saves stranded residents.
Torrential rains have unleashed chaos in Madhya Pradesh, submerging villages and stranding residents, including school children, in Shivpuri district. The crisis prompted authorities to deploy the Army for urgent rescue operations, officials confirmed. Flood-like conditions also gripped Guna, where a bridge collapse severed connectivity, forcing villagers to flee to safer areas.
Dindori, Vidisha, Jabalpur, Narmadapuram, Alirajpur, Rajgarh, and Betul districts face similar deluges, with rivers and streams overflowing. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts 8-9 inches of rain in the next 24 hours across Bhopal, Vidisha, and other regions, worsening the situation.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, monitoring from Home Guard headquarters, demanded swift action, vowing no negligence in relief efforts. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, via video conference, directed collectors in Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashoknagar to ensure food, water, and medical aid, deploying boats and helicopters if needed. “No laxity will be tolerated,” Scindia posted on X.

In Shivpuri’s Kolaras, over 250 people have been evacuated, but 100 remain trapped, with 30 school children in Pachavali village awaiting rescue after 24 hours. Army Major Shivam Ganguly leads operations, with two teams and a medical unit assisting. In Guna’s Bamori block, a damaged dam prompted evacuation advisories for eight villages.
Scindia remains in contact with Union Home and Defence Ministries, coordinating with Yadav to ensure seamless relief. The central and state governments are fully committed to supporting the affected, with ongoing efforts to save lives and restore normalcy.
