Fiery Crash Claims Three Lives in Raisen

Three dead in fiery MP crash

A devastating accident in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district left three family members dead and one critically injured when their car crashed into a culvert and erupted in flames. The tragedy occurred around 6 PM on Monday near Silari village on National Highway 45, approximately 90 km from the district headquarters, as the family was returning to Indore from Narsinghpur.

According to police, the driver, Sumit Garhwal, swerved to avoid a cow on the highway, causing the car to slam into a culvert at high speed. The impact crushed the vehicle’s front end, trapping all four occupants inside. The car then caught fire, intensifying the horror. Local residents and police worked frantically to extinguish the blaze, but the severity of the crash made rescue efforts challenging. Authorities used a cutter to remove two doors and extract the victims.

Pradeep Kumar Garhwal, 50, and Ravi Kumar Garhwal, 70, died at the scene, while Laxmibai Garhwal, 45, succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital. Sumit, the sole survivor, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital in Bhopal for advanced treatment. “The collision was catastrophic, and the fire complicated rescue efforts,” said Sub Divisional Officer of Police Kunwar Singh Mukati, who, along with Sub-Divisional Magistrate Santosh Mudgal, oversaw the response.
