#BREAKING: Fierce Encounter Underway with Maoists in Chhattisgarh; 3 Killed

Three Maoists Slain in Ongoing Chhattisgarh Clash on Dantewada-Bijapur Border

A fierce encounter between security forces and Maoist insurgents claimed the lives of three Maoists along the Dantewada-Bijapur border in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday morning, with operations still underway.

The clash erupted around 8 a.m. in a forested stretch when a joint team of District Reserve Guards (DRG), Bastar Fighters, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) acted on intelligence about Maoist presence near Kirandul police station limits.

Dantewada Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai confirmed the deaths, noting that a significant cache of firearms and explosives was recovered from the scene. “The operation continues as we suspect more insurgents may be hiding in the area,” Rai said.

No security personnel were harmed, and reinforcements have tightened the cordon around the rugged terrain, a known Maoist stronghold in the Bastar region.

This year alone, Chhattisgarh has seen over 116 Maoists killed in various encounters, reflecting an intensified campaign against Left-wing extremism. Just days ago, on March 20, twin operations in Bijapur and Kanker districts left 30 Maoists and one DRG jawan dead.

The latest skirmish underscores the relentless push by security forces to meet the Union government’s 2026 deadline to eradicate Maoism, a vow reiterated by Home Minister Amit Shah.

As the gunfight persists, the Bastar division—encompassing Dantewada and Bijapur—remains a volatile epicenter of this decades-long insurgency, with both sides locked in a high-stakes struggle amid dense jungles and escalating tensions.
