Fierce Encounter in Jammu-Kashmir, Army Joins Police Operation

A fierce encounter erupted between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Tuesday, escalating tensions in the volatile region. The clash began when terrorists opened fire on a police team from the Special Operations Group (SOG) during a search operation in the Beeranthub area, prompted by intelligence reports of suspicious movements. The exchange of fire triggered a swift response, with reinforcements from the Indian Army and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) rushing to the scene to neutralize the threat.

Inspector General of Police (Jammu Zone) Bhim Sen Tuti confirmed the operation, stating, "An exchange of fire took place between terrorists and the SOG team in Beeranthub, under the Kandi police station jurisdiction. Joint teams of Police, Army, and CRPF have cordoned off the area and are conducting a robust operation to track down the terrorists." The statement was shared via a post on X, highlighting the coordinated response to contain the situation.

As of now, no casualties have been reported, but the area remains under a tight cordon, with security forces intensifying their search to locate and eliminate the terrorists. The operation is ongoing, with authorities maintaining high alert to prevent any escalation.

In a parallel development, security forces also launched a cordon and search operation in the Dharni top area of Udhampur district, signaling heightened vigilance across the region. The Poonch-Rajouri belt has been a hotbed of terrorist activity, witnessing multiple attacks and encounters since October 2021. This latest incident underscores the persistent security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, as forces work relentlessly to curb militancy and restore stability.
