Faridabad Woman Hospitalised With Severe Burns After Alleged Boiling Water Assault
Woman suffers severe burns after assault.
A woman suffered burns over nearly 50 per cent of her body after a married couple allegedly poured boiling water on her and confined her inside a room for several days in Qureshipur village in Faridabad, police said on Thursday. The victim, who was known to the accused couple as a neighbour, was reportedly staying at their house after becoming estranged from her husband around two months ago. She sustained severe burn injuries, particularly to her chest and hands, in the alleged incident on Sunday. Police later rescued her after receiving information about the matter and arranged for her medical treatment.
According to police, the woman had been living at the couple’s residence since becoming separated from her husband. The exact circumstances under which she came to stay with the couple, as well as what led to the alleged assault, are part of the investigation. Police said the incident took place on Sunday, but the victim was allegedly kept inside a room for several days before authorities were informed. The allegations include both the pouring of boiling water on the woman and her subsequent confinement, leaving her unable to seek immediate medical assistance.
The victim sustained burns covering approximately half of her body, police said. Her chest and hands were reportedly severely blistered as a result of the injuries. Such extensive burns can require prolonged medical treatment and monitoring, particularly when sensitive areas of the body are affected. The victim was found in a critical condition when police intervened. Authorities rescued her from the premises and arranged for her to be taken to hospital, where doctors began treatment for the serious injuries.

The woman was initially admitted to BK Hospital in Faridabad after being rescued. Doctors assessed her condition and, considering the severity of her burns, referred her to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for specialised treatment. She was subsequently shifted to the Delhi hospital, where she is receiving further medical care. Police are expected to take additional statements and gather medical records as part of the investigation, although the victim’s condition may determine when investigators can obtain a detailed account of the alleged incident directly from her.
Police have arrested the woman accused in the case in connection with the alleged assault. Her husband, who is also accused in the case, remains absconding, according to authorities. Police are continuing efforts to trace him and determine his alleged involvement in the incident. Investigators are also examining the circumstances surrounding the victim’s stay at the couple’s home and the events that allegedly resulted in her suffering serious burns. The role of each accused will be established on the basis of evidence collected during the investigation.
The alleged confinement of the victim for several days is also a significant part of the police inquiry. Investigators will seek to establish how long she remained inside the room, whether anyone else was aware of her condition and what circumstances prevented her from obtaining medical assistance earlier. Statements from neighbours or other people familiar with the household may also help investigators reconstruct the sequence of events. Police have not disclosed further details about the motive behind the alleged assault.
The case comes as authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s injuries and alleged confinement. The immediate priority remains her medical treatment, given the extent of the burns she sustained. Meanwhile, police are pursuing the absconding accused and gathering evidence related to the allegations. Further details about the motive, sequence of events and charges are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses and authorities record statements from the victim and other witnesses.
