Explosions Rock Central Dubai, Smoke Billows Near Burj Khalifa in Fresh Incident

Loud explosions shook central Dubai on Friday, with smoke rising near the Burj Khalifa.

Loud explosions were heard across parts of Dubai on Friday morning, with thick smoke seen rising above buildings in the city’s central area, according to eyewitnesses and local authorities. Videos circulating online showed a plume of smoke near the skyline with the iconic Burj Khalifa visible in the background, raising concerns among residents amid heightened regional tensions.

Witnesses reported that several buildings shook following a powerful blast. An AFP correspondent in the city said their building trembled shortly after the explosion, suggesting the force of the incident was felt across parts of the densely populated urban area. Residents also reported hearing sirens soon after the blast, particularly from the direction of Sheikh Zayed Road, one of the city’s main transport arteries.

Officials later clarified that the incident was linked to debris falling after an aerial interception rather than a direct strike on the city. In a statement posted on social media, the Dubai Media Office said that debris from a successful interception caused a “minor incident” on the exterior of a building in central Dubai.

Authorities confirmed that the damage was limited to the outer facade of the building and that no casualties had been reported. Emergency services were deployed to assess the situation and ensure the safety of nearby residents and businesses. Officials urged the public to rely on verified information from official channels while investigations continued.

The development comes amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, which have already triggered security alerts and disruptions in several regional cities. Dubai, one of the region’s major commercial and aviation hubs, has been closely monitoring the evolving situation as authorities remain on high alert for potential security threats.

Despite the incident, authorities emphasized that the situation had been quickly contained and that normal operations across the city were continuing. Officials said further details would be released as assessments progress, while reiterating that there were no injuries reported in connection with the falling debris.
